Often when I begin coaching a new client I discover they are going through the motion of life. I’ve seen it so many times, it doesn’t surprise me anymore. People react to what the world requires of them…driving to and from work, going to their children’s practices, getting involved in social activities, but often without any meaningful strategic thinking or planning. Many people default where life leads them.
When we begin the coaching process I begin to see a spark of life. None of us can really be satisfied going through the motions of life. We’re not wired for that. We are built to be fruitful, to multiply our fruit, to take dominion over our circumstance and to subdue our challenges and problems. When we stop doing these things discouragement, depression and disappointment begin to settle in.
I want to encourage you today to make a conscious choice to grow and to lead. Decide where you want to lead your life. Where do you want to lead your children? Decide where you want your marriage to go. Where do you want to be career-wise in the next three to five years?
Many people unfortunately assume that growth is automatic. We don’t have to do anything to physically grow. Because of this, people assume that spiritual, mental and emotional growth…leadership development is automatic. The same things that cause intentional leaders to grow, cause others to be set back and to walk in circles.
I want to encourage you to be intentional today. I’d be happy to work on this with you. In fact, that’s why I wrote Becoming a Fearless Leader, which you can access for free.
Would you please take a moment to tell me about times when you were or were not intentional and the impact that this had on your life? Leave your comments below.
