Many people hide behind "normal"

Video duration is 4 minutes and 47 seconds.

You are extraordinary. Why do so many people strive to be normal?

The three fundamental points of fearless leadership are that you are extraordinary, built for abundance and designed to make a contribution to the world. Today, let’s talk about what it means to be extraordinary. Many people don’t feel special.

The idea of being extraordinary is not flattery. I’m not trying to “blow smoke” by saying this about you. The same things that some people  use as excuses for not moving forward, others will use to learn more about themselves, others and life. They will choose to grow through their opposition.

Extraordinary means that you are one of a kind. There is no one else that has your exact genetic makeup. Your physical, emotional, mental and spiritual traits are unique. No one else has your exact experience; experiences that have made you passionate about certain things. No one else has your exact skill set. Your talents are unique. This is just scratching the surface of your uniqueness. These things combined give you a unique genius. Potentially you can do things that no one else can because of this genius.

Perhaps you see your life as a series of mistakes. I don’t think that every situation is life is good but I do believe each situation, used correctly can accomplish something good. We need to learn to take the good, bad and ugly of our lives and realize that combined, they give us an extraordinary identity. They potentially give us the ability to reach and touch a sphere of influence that no one else can and to influence that sphere in a unique way.

SO this is my reminder to you that you are extraordinary! I hope you remember this and keep your head up today. I hope it’s a great day for you.

Self-Perception – the foundation of leadership/feed/

What you see in the mirror is what you get in life...

Video duration is 3 minutes and 56 seconds.

Self-perception – the foundation of leadership.

This is a word of wisdom that I believe is crucial to every aspect of life, dealing with our perceptions of self. This insight comes from the book of Proverbs in the Bible. I’ll make the reference neutral in gender. It says that as a person thinks in his or her heart, so is he or she. The lens we see ourselves through becomes the filter through which we do everything. It’s the filter through which we interact with others. It’s the filter through which we process our thoughts and beliefs. It’s the filter upon which we base our faith.

Many people believe we should love God first, family second, others third and eventually love self but this won’t work. There is another awesome commandment in the Bible that says, “Love your neighbor AS yourself.” I see something very powerful in this command: I will end up loving my neighbor exactly the same way that I love myself.

If you think of your life as a well, if the well is empty you have nothing to put your bucket down into in order to give anything of meaningful value to others.

Self-perception is very important. The beliefs that you have about yourself and the thoughts that emanate from those beliefs will set things into motion that eventually determine your future.

Too much emphasis on your press report can be dangerous…

Don't put too much stock in what others say...

Video duration is 4 minutes and 7 seconds.

Press Report – Too much emphasis can be dangerous!

I want to share a little golden nugget that a leader in my life taught me many years ago. A former Pastor used to say, “Don’t give too much credit to your own press releases.” Sometimes he would expound and say, “When they’re great, and everyone is speaking well of you, it’s easy to get a big head. If you are not careful you’ll begin to think more highly of yourself than you ought to. On the days that the press is bad, it’s easy  to let other people control you, letting their opinions pull you down. Take them for what they are…read them. Find value in what you can, but don’t dwell on them!”

That’s my encouragement to you today. The world is judging you, rightly or wrongly. You don’t have to let it affect who you are or where you are going in life. When people applaud you…enjoy the moment, but the day is coming when the same people who are speaking well of you may change their tune. There will be days when people what to throw rocks. Their remarks can hurt. It’s important not to personalize these messages. Take them for what they are. Pull out the good. Throw away the bad.

The message of the day is, don’t dwell on either the ego gratifying things, or those words that are meant to tear you down. They don’t define you! Your future successes will flow out of who you are. Your past is not a reliable determination of where you are going, or what you can be in life.

So…the bottom line regarding your press report is this: Enjoy the moment, but too much emphasis can be dangerous!
