Heavenly vision and prayer
“And Elisha prayed, and said, ‘Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.’ Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha,” 2 Kings 6:17.
To the one who need to see from God’s perspective,
How our faith would change, if at any given moment we could see the activity in the spirit world around us. We can become so chained to what we experience through our five senses. The very essence of vision is spiritual. Things that can be seen are created through a realm that cannot be seen. Though not physically tangible, that makes the spiritual ream “more real” than what we can see. In truth, the unseen, spiritual is the foundation of all that can be seen.
If God would give us the ability to see spirit with our eyes, we would see an entire “world” that co-exists with the natural. Around us every day, are hosts of spiritual being, some evil and more that are good. Perhaps the greatest insight we could gain from this experience would be the understanding of what actually happens when we pray. At times when we might assume that nothing is taking place, great things are happening spiritually.
One example of this is found in the book of Daniel (Daniel 10). The prophet fasted and prayed for twenty-one days. Suddenly, the an angel appeared to him conveying God’s encouragement and instruction. The angel informed Daniel that he had been sent from the first day that he humbled himself to seek understanding from God. For twenty-one days, the angel had battled with the demonic principality over the region of Persia. Daniel’s persistence in prayer broke God’s messenger through with the answers he needed. I have often visualize what would have happened had Daniel ceased to seek God on the twentieth day. I believe the valiant messenger of God would have been forced to return to heaven without delivering his message. People less committed than Daniel would simply assume that God had not answered.
As you work with God to birth vision, it is vitally important that you see beyond the physical dimension of the life you live. Know and understand that your thinking and emotions are affected greatly by the spirits around you. Being in tune with your feelings can assist you in discerning demonic powers that need to be bound. Also understand the important role you play in creating the conditions that release God’s army to advance. God may not actually allow you to see this unseen world with your physical eyes. You can, however, pray for greater discernment to know and understand what is happening around you each day!
Until God graces me to share again,
