Imagination + Faith = ?
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen,” Hebrews 11:1.
To the imaginative,
The Bible tells us to guard against vain imaginations (Romans 1:21; 2 Cor. 10:5). Fantasy can be lustful and corrupt. Many people, however, make the wrong assumption that all imagination is bad. The ability to imagine, like all creative ability, comes from God. It can be used for His glory, or perverted through wrong inspiration.
Imagination is a wonderful gift necessary for the creative process. In order to create, you must be able to see a thing before it actually exists. This begins with a need. The frustration associated with this need causes your spirit to explore the spiritual and physical realms, as well as the realms of the soul. You do this in search of a new combination of ingredients that will solve your problem. These ingredients might be tangible. They might be a combination of previous thoughts. They might be the union of spiritual truths. They can be a combination of all of the above. The end product might be improved health, healed emotions, increased communication, beautiful art work, or the construction of a new product. The possibilities are endless.
As you use your imagination it becomes important to check your source of inspiration. Once it unites with true faith the creative process is set in motion. Those things hoped for begin to take on substance. This is often a process that happens over and over until the need is completely met. Your mind builds and then rebuilds, seeking to improve your creation until it’s perfected. The end result can be good or evil depending on the heart that birthed it.
In spite of the potential for misuse, this whole process is a wonderful gift of God. Rather than fearing it, you should work with God to develop it. As you exercise this ability under the Spirit’s tutelage, your discernment will grow, helping you to use it properly, for His glory.
Oh, that everyone would develop the creative imagination within them! So many people walk the earth in frustrated hopelessness, when within their spirit lies the ability to work with God to develop solutions. You can co-labor with God to conceive and give birth to inventive creations that can bless all of mankind. The Bible says that God is able to do exceedingly more than what we can ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). It's sobering to think how many creative solutions are buried with people because they never united their imaginations with their faith. Do you have the courage to dream big? Dare to work with God so your dreams become blessings that benefit others! Yield your imagination and your faith to Him today. Ask Him to unite them to be used mightily for His glory!
Until God graces me to share again,
