Making the Maker joyful

"...Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord," Matthew 25:23.

Dear expression of God,

A creator is made joyful when his work fully expresses the purpose for which it was designed. Generally, when this happens, a life is made a little bit easier, safer, or better than it would have been without the invention. This brings a smile to the inventor's face. God is Creator. He is also love. He is a loving Creator. In fact, He is the loving Creator of all creators. This means He finds joy when the people He has fashioned fulfill their purposes in ways that bless others.

God created our world with the powerful element of need at the center of it. He could do this with confidence because He created us in His own image. He knew that need would frustrate, stimulate, and finally inspire us. It would cause us to stretch beyond ourselves. Need calls us to unite with His Spirit in search of the answers to our frustrations. As children who share His image, he gave us the capacity to compassionately ache with the needs of those around us. The very groaning of creation was designed to unite creation with Creator to meet needs.

Sin and abuse have stolen or hardened the love of many. Creativity is often undiscovered, denied, or perverted for selfish gain. Without love, the life-giving, creative spirit within a person malfunctions. It may lie dormant waiting to be discovered. It may create things that are not pleasing to God.

We make our Creator joyful when we release the gifts He has given us to fulfill His purposes. We too, can have great joy, when we know that our creative abilities are being directed, in love, to meet the needs of others.

Until God graces me to share again,
