You were in Adam

“Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned,” Romans 5:12.

To those in Christ,

Have you ever struggled with the thought that one man messed things up for the entire human race? As odd as it may seem, an understanding of how this happened can give you incredible insight into the concept of birthing God’s vision. You see, you and I were in Adam when he sinned. We were actually part of him, though we would not be born for thousands of years.

After God created the heavens and the earth, He fashioned the first man out of the dust of the ground (which had come out of Himself) and breathed His own breath into him. That was a one time event. God took the woman out of the man. She was “in him” even as the man had come out of God. Every other human being has come from the union of the woman who came out of man and the man who came out of God. Nothing new was created. God could rest from His work because He had placed every other man (and woman) inside the first man. Man and woman who lived in time and space simply joined in the creative process by releasing that which the timeless God had placed in them from the beginning. So, men and women have been doing down through the ages.

In addition to every person being inside Adam, every creation that any person would ever fashion was in him, as well. There truly is nothing new under the sun. Everything that will ever be, was placed as potential in the first man. All creation came out of God. Creator waits for creation to unite with Him, not only to birth that which is within, but to align its use with His purposes. Man who creates apart from the Spirit of God, perverts and prostitutes purpose.

God longs for you to give birth to that which He has placed within you. This is not a process of coming up with something that has never been. Rather it is seeing what was in God’s mind and heart before the first man was created and giving it expression to bless your generation. This may mean working with Him to improve your level of fitness, or developing musical or artistic ability. It might mean writing books, or designing buildings or inventing new technology. You may give birth to prayers from the heart of God or teaching that advances His Kingdom. He’s already thought it through and made every provision. All that awaits is for you to unite with Him!

Until God graces me to share again,

Randall Paul Pipes
