Bearing God's dreams
“But these are the ones sown on good ground, those who hear the word, accept it, and bear fruit: some thirty-fold, some sixty, and some a hundred,” Mark 4:1-20.
To those who desire to bear good fruit,
Why do some Christians bear a hundred-fold while others are nearly barren? This parable indicates that much of it has to do with the environment of the seed. Here is some practical advice to help you make your life more fertile.
- Eat right. Just as an expectant mother should avoid certain foods, so must the expectant Christian. Get a steady diet of the Word of God each day. It may be beneficial to eat smaller meals with greater frequency. This makes it easier to digest and to assimilate and reduces unnecessary fat.
- Get your rest. Read the third and fourth chapters of the book of Hebrews. The Sabbath is more than one specific day out of seven. In the New Testament Sabbath rest is to be a lifestyle. This rest comes when we cease from doing our own works and begin to walk in the finished works of God. This is the place where the yoke becomes easy and light. Instead of striving and struggling to make things happen we learn to "wait" on the Lord. We listen and obey.
- Take the right supplements. Get a healthy supply of tapes, books, etc. to further your dream. Spend time with other successful visionaries. If you can’t meet them in person, take advantage of the materials they provide.
- Consult your physician. Surround yourself with people who have a proven track record of being able to give Godly counsel. Be open to their advice, as well as to their correction.
- Never assume that you are not pregnant. Most miscarriages happen in the first trimester. If you assume that you are not pregnant you might do careless things that jeopardize the life that you are carrying. Guard against scoffers. Be like Nehemiah who refused to stop, even long enough, to hear the enemy’s accusations. Never consider that your vision might not come true!
Vision is a precious gift from God. Many people do not count it precious enough. This is probably because when conception first happens, it doesn’t look like much. Given time in a faith-filled womb however, it will release the very dreams and plans of God. When God gives you a dream, He will cause it to grow. Your responsibility is to provide a safe environment for it. If you don’t have a dream, God surely wishes to implant His vision within you. Dare to risk intimacy with Him. Seek His face and His heart and soon, you to will be the bearer of His dreams.
Until God graces me to share again,
